Socorro County Property Overview

Rio Grande Estates is a very large under-developed community.  It is about 40 miles south of Albuquerque.  Located near the community of Las Nutrias, the city of Belen is about 15 miles to the north and the county seat of Socorro is about 29 miles south.

You can RV or camp on your property as long as you like without restriction.  "Socorro County does not have a zoning or permitting ordinance. At this time there are no County regulations or restrictions on the use of real property regarding the location and use of buildings/structures or use of land for trade, industry, residence, or control of population density." 

All of these properties have platted legal road access.  Even in the more remote areas where the graded roads have faded, you can drive anywhere in a pickup or SUV.  You can choose to leave road easements as they are, or grade them in at any time. 

If you're looking for an easily accessible yet secluded spot, these should definitely get your attention.  To the east are the Manzano Mountains, providing you with fantastic views.  Some properties have power available, for most you will choose solar.  Water will be by hauling/storage or well, if you decide that a water well is a good option for you.
