Beautiful Mohave County is in northwestern Arizona. At 8.5 million acres, it is the third largest county in the United States. However, only 17% of the land in Mohave County is available for private ownership. 55% is owned by the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau Of Land Management (the county has almost 1.5 million acres of forest); 7% is owned by Native Americans; 7% is owned by the state of Arizona; 14% is other public lands. The county is great for hiking, biking, fishing, boating, and golf. In the county are the Colorado River, Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, and Lake Havasu.
Lake Havasu City is a well known resort community with a population of about 42,000. Featured are recreational and competitive boating, fishing, jet ski, and regattas. In addition there are many other activities as well, including Winterfest in February. There are many shops, bars, two minor league baseball teams, a history museum, art galleries, an airport, and the Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Kingman is the county seat. It is known as The Heart Of Historic Route 66. The longest preserved original section of Route 66 runs through downtown, which delights tourists. With a population of over 28,000 it has the amenities you would expect of a city of that size.
Bullhead City is on the southern side of Lake Mohave and has a population of over 39,500. Here again just about anything you would want in a city can be found here.
Grand Canyon National Park is of course legendary and has inspired awe in everyone who has ever visited. The Havasu National Wildlife Refuge includes almost 18,000 acres of animal refuge and is an especially treasured area for bird watchers.
There is 1,000 miles of shoreline in Mohave County. Here you will find an endless amount of outdoor activity available. You can go horseback riding, camping, hiking, biking, rock climbing, as well as enjoy any water sport you desire. Elsewhere in Mohave County there are more things to do and you might want to explore the romance and history of the old west by visiting ghost towns.
