Property Details & Area Information

These lots are in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, the largest valley in the world with one of the highest elevations at roughly 7,670 feet. There are 4 distinct seasons with moderate summers and cold winters, and an amazing 280 days of sunshine per year.

There is legally platted road access to each property.  We drove everywhere in our RV without a problem.

Highways 142 and 159 are conveniently close.

San Luis is the county seat.  It is the oldest town in Colorado, founded in 1540. Alamosa, a city of 9,800 with every amenity you could want, is about 25 miles away.

Utilities

These properties have grandfathered Colorado residential water rights.  Land for sale in Colorado with water rights is getting harder to come by. 

If you intend to have a well, you will need to talk with the Colorado Division Of Water Resources at 303-866-3581.

Electricity is in the area but has not been run to these properties.  You will probably choose solar and have propane delivered. 

Local Attractions and Information

Costilla County is one of Colorado's least populated counties. There are approximately 3,625 people living in 1,230 square miles, about 3 people/square mile. The US average, including fairly desolate and huge Alaska, is about 94 people/square mile.

Costilla County offers some of the best big game hunting in Colorado.
