Iron County is in southwest Utah. Its largest city is Cedar City and the county seat is Parowan.
This is an area of great natural beauty. It's a great place for biking, hiking, climbing, sightseeing natural wonders, and visiting historic mining sites. Local attractions include the Cedar Breaks National Monument, Dixie National Forest, and the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum. Cedar City hosts the annual Utah Shakespeare Festival in two grand theaters.
The Parowan Gap is known for the petroglyphs left by the Fremont People. The Southern Paiute tribe is headquartered in Cedar City. The area was explored by the Spanish, who were later followed by frontiersman Jebediah Smith and John Fremont.
