New Socorro Heights in Texas

Big Beautiful West Texas

Gorgeous "Mountain View" Area

Great For Home Site with Horses

These are gorgeous 26.34 acre ranch / home sites.  This area, in Block 16 of Hudspeth County, is called New Socorro Heights.  These huge properties are about 1/6 mile wide by 1/4 mile long.  This is more than a million square feet.  The properties are agricultural / residential.  You are allowed to raise horses and other animals, which is very common in the region.

These properties are surrounded by some of the most incredible views that west Texas has to offer.  You will be right beside and looking at the long side view of a long mountain range.  These have long rows of mountain rim rock, which look positively incredible.  You will have several other mountains in view as well.  You will have privacy on these properties as they are in an undeveloped and pristine area.  There are many potential building sites as the ground varies from flat to lightly rolling.  The land is covered in thick native grasses and sage with some cacti and medium brush.

These parcels are located about 35 miles east of El Paso and about 11 miles northeast of Fort Hancock at Interstate 10.  This is immediately to the east of the Sunset Ranches area of southwestern Hudspeth County.  They are near the Alamo ReservoirDiablo Reservoir and Cavett Lake are to the south, on the same side of I-10.  The Rio Grande River is less than 15 miles to the south.

To get to these properties you will probably want to take Exit 72 off of I-10 at Fort Hancock, and go north from there.  You could also take the Fabens exit off of I-10 and make your way east through the Sunset Ranches area.

There is something to do in this region for everyone.  For the hunter or wildlife photographer there are big horn sheep, mule deer, javalina, mountain lion, antelope, quail, and dove.  A short drive to the northeast is Guadalupe Mountains National Park in northern Culberson County.  Here you will see El Capitan, Capitan Reef, and Guadalupe Peak, which is the highest point in the state at 8,749 feet.  Within an easy drive are the Rio Grande River, Big Bend National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Hueco Tanks State Historical Park, and several other parks and points of interest.

Hudspeth County is situated in far west Texas between El Paso County to the west and Culberson County to the east.  This is a beautiful area.  The air is clean, the water is clear, and there is basically no pollution and no crime here.  You will see some of the most beautiful colorful sunsets that you will ever see.  The night sky is so clear that it will amaze you with how many stars you can see.

The approximately 4,300 feet elevation of these properties provides excellent weather.  You will experience four mild seasons as the climate is mild and dry.  The average minimum temperature in January is 30 degrees while the average maximum temperature in July is 94 degrees.  The growing season is 224 days per year, and the average annual rainfall is about 10 inches.

Hudspeth County is in the Rio Grande Basin where the soil is primarily made up of top soil, clay, sandy loam, and sand.  Vegetation consists of scrub brush, grasses, cacti, creosote bushes, post oak, chaparral, juniper, mesquite, yucca, oak, and agave.

These parcels are undeveloped off grid land.  There is power to the west along the main entrance road to the Sunset Ranches, and there is power to the airstrip about 4 miles north of these properties.  Power for now would be by solar, generator, or wind.  Water would be by storage or perhaps by well, if you would like to contact a local well driller to explore that option.  Wells in the area are generally 500 to 700 feet deep and have good water.  Sewer would be by septic - if and when you build.  Cell phones work almost everywhere in the area.  Taxes are only about $75 per year.  The taxes are current and there are no liens or judgements against the property, as is the case for all of the land we sell.

There are no restrictions and mobile homes, modular homes, and RVs are all allowed.  There are no time limits on when to build and there are no association fees.  You can hunt on the property.  You can camp on your property while you visit the area.  You are allowed to enjoy your property while it appreciates in value.
