To the west of Vista Valley Estates is the Uinta National Forest, to the north is the Wasatch National Forest, to the south and northeast is the Ashley National Forest!

You might want to take a driving tour of the area, to familiarize yourself with some of the region's major attractions. You can also learn a lot by visiting Duchesne County's historical markers.

Duchesne County has an abundance of parks and outdoor recreational activities. Northeast Utah is famous for its fishing. There are hundreds of freshwater lakes with trout in Duchesne County, and over 1,000 such lakes throughout the Uinta Mountain Range.

The Uinta Mountains are the only mountain range in the continental United States that run east-west. About half of the Uintas is forested with fir, spruce, pine, and aspens. There are 545 miles of trails that you can hike in the Uintas, and you can see signs marking some of them as the old Spanish trails. The area's old Spanish gold mines are the stuff of legend and have received much investigation. There are also nice campgrounds available.

Less than 40 miles away is the town of Myton, which is near Nine Mile Canyon. In the canyon is an incredible collection of Native American rock art, reputed to be the greatest collection of rock art sites in the U.S.. Much of this art predates written history, and was done by the Ute and Fremont tribes. One of the hunting scenes is the most photographed Native American rock art in the country. You will find the area to be delightful and easily accessible. In addition to traveling the canyon by car, you can hike or enjoy mountain biking to the various pictograph and petroglyph art sites.

The beautiful Strawberry River is 18 miles long, 14 miles of which is protected by the Nature Conservancy. The river is renowned for its excellent trout fishing, both along the Blue Ribbon Section and the lower Strawberry River. The river is also a great location for challenging whitewater sports. The land along the river is known for its dogwood and willow trees, and the area is inhabited by elk, moose, deer, bear, and cougar.

From Vista Valley Estates you can hop onto Highway 40 and go west to Fruitland, or to the Strawberry Reservoir area about 13 miles away. The reservoir is known for large cutthroat trout and rainbow trout. There are Forest Service campgrounds and other recreational facilities, several paved boat ramps, and a restaurant at the Strawberry Bay Marina & Lodge.

Just a couple miles east of Vista Valley Estates, Highway 40 intersects with State Highway 208, giving convenient access to the north. You can take Highway 208 then Highway 35 north deep into the Wasatch National Forest.

From Vista Valley Estates you can also take Highway 40 further east to the city of Duchesne (which is the county seat), and Starvation State Park, and the Starvation Reservoir.

Less than a quarter of a mile from Unit 1 you can go south on Red Creek Road. This takes you on a scenic drive through beautiful Red Creek Canyon. In just a little over five miles after leaving Unit 1 you will come to the gorgeous Strawberry Pinnacles and can continue your scenic drive through Strawberry River Canyon on Strawberry River Road. You can go further south and enjoy the Ashley National Forest. The forest is 1,384,132 beautiful acres with elevations ranging from 6,000 feet to 13,500 feet.

These Vista Valley Estates lots generally run from 6,500 square feet to 7,000 square feet. They give you affordable access to the Uinta Basin's wealth of outdoor treasures. Every lot has access to a platted street for convenient access.
